Day 1Rosetta / Alexandria

Sarandeep Tour guide will pick you up from Alexandria Port and accompany you to Rosetta day tour from Alexandria Port. On arrival, start to visit Rashid National Museum, one of the original unique styled red and black brick houses within the City’s small winding streets. The museum’s exhibits relate the history of Rashid from the town’s construction in ancient times right through to the modern era. On display are 600 artifacts carefully selected from the Islamic and Coptic museums. You will also discover a replica of the famous Rosetta stone inscribed in 3 ancient languages.

And then, You will enjoy a walking tour around the small local streets and Souq to discover the local life and markets selling their fresh produce of breads, fruit and vegetables, fish and meats whilst heading to the preserved Ottoman Homes.

Proceed to visit the House of Abu Shaheen which has a reconstructed mill on the ground floor, featuring enormous wooden beams and planks. You can actually see the gears and teeth rotate, which 200 years ago would have been pushed in an endless circle by a bored draught animal. In the courtyard, the roof of the stables supported by granite columns with Graeco-Roman capitals. And also, you will walk to the next door House of Amasyali, which is one of the most impressive of all Rosetta’s fine buildings.

Move on walking a short distance with your tour guide to visit the local Hanging Mosque, a unique construction and is one of only a few Mosques in Egypt built on an upper level in order to have storage units underneath for shops and supplies.

Lastly you will visit forte Qaitbay, built in 1479 to guard the mouth of the Nile 6 km further on. The fort originally modeled on fort Qaitbay in Alexandria. Here you will have some free time to climb to the top of the Citadel along the fortified walls to see the lovely views of where the Nile meets the Mediterranean. Finally, transfer back to Alexandria Port.
